This figure is larger than the combined revenues of the top technology companies at that time. While some parts of the industry, such as DVDs and magazines, have seen declines due to the rise of the internet, the overall industry size has remained stable or grown, thanks to online content and live webcam performances.

In terms of online adult content specifically, a substantial portion of the global internet traffic is dedicated to this sector. According to a 2020 report from ExtremeTech, adult websites are among the most popular on the internet, with one major adult site reporting 42 billion visits in 2019, an average of 115 million visits per day.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly employed in the Not Safe for Work (NSFW) adult industry to bring numerous benefits. AI can be instrumental in creating more immersive and interactive adult content, thus expanding the market and offering novel experiences for consumers.
